Store closing

As much as I hate to see a good store go out of business, when a good deal comes my way, I try not to quibble. I got this whole lot for $20! Whoo Hoo!

I'm just sorry that I didn't find out about this until three hours until the final store closing.

11/20/10 Rite Aid Trip

So, when I went to Rite Aid on this date, there were so many good deals, I knew I wouldn't be able to spend only $20. This was part of the reason I broke my $20-at-Rite-Aid experiment. However, I wasn't exactly sure I was going to stop the experiment, so I did not use any of the +Up Rewards I had in my wallet to pay for this bunch. What I got was all this - a $129 value.

I paid $68. Then, I got $20 in +Up Rewards, and I will also get back $13 in Single Check Rebates. So, in essence, I put in $36 and got $129 worth of stuff! What a great deal!

Walgreens

Well, now that I am at a pause with Rite Aid, I have decided to investigate a new store in town. About a year ago, Walgreens entered our little berg. Being a bit of a habit driven individual, I did not darken its doors. However, after reading about the great deals and good coupon policy they offered, I decided to give them a try. Here's what I found.

Walgreens is more work than Rite Aid. You have to make sure that you have more items in your cart than coupons in your hand. You can't roll Register Rewards (that means, you can't buy M&Ms one day, get a Register Reward for them, and then come in the next day and use your Register Rewards to buy more M&Ms.) But, they still have some smokin' hot deals. I went for my second trip on Tuesday (just as the snow started to fly) and got all this:

I paid $7.43 cash, but I got back $9.50 in Register Rewards! So, that means, that I now have $9.50 to be used to buy other great deals. Unfortunately, Walgreens recipets print up in such a way that calculating total value is next to impossible.

All in all, Walgreens will be worth the work!
